Safe(R) Space Training

Safe(R) Space is a campus wide program designed to visibly identify students, staff, and faculty peers who support the LGBTQIA+ population, understand some of the issues facing LGBTQIA individuals, and are aware of various LGBTQIA-affirming resources on campus.  This 3 hour training program provides a foundation of knowledge to be an effective ally to LGBTQIA students and to those who may be questioning their gender or sexuality.  Click HERE for more information and to view registration information.

Ally Zone Trainings

Division of Student Affairs and the Tyler Clementi Center have partnered to offer interactive trainings explore Jewish and Muslim experiences, the history of antisemitism and Islamophobia, current campus climate, and allyship strategies. Engage in dynamic, research-backed sessions that offer practical tools, reflection, and resources to deepen your understanding of identity, diversity, and community. Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Trainings

Mental Health First Aid Training

Learn how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders through the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) – Higher Ed training. Through this 8 hour training, focused on the unique experiences and needs of college students, attendees learn the skills needed to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care and resources.

Mental Health First Aid Training is offered by Rutgers Student Health and is free for all graduate students,TAs/GAs, faculty, and staff members.  Click HERE for more information and to view current training dates.

Campus Connect-Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training

This experiential training aims to increase knowledge about statistics, risk & protective factors, warning signs, and campus resources concerning college student suicide. Click HERE for more information and to view current training dates.

 

Workshops & Certificate Programs for TAs

Rutgers University-New Brunswick Institute for Teaching, Innovation, & Inclusive Pedagogy.

TIIP facilitates initiatives, provides services, and shares resources that advance teaching and learning. Each semester, the Institute for Teaching, Innovation, and Inclusive Pedagogy (TIIP) offers free virtual workshops covering a wide range of topics to contribute to the graduate students' teaching development.  Sessions are designed for current and future graduate TAs, and TAs may attend as many sessions as they wish. Students who attend at least four workshops in the "Improving Classroom Skills" will receive a certificate of participation.  Click HERE for more information on TIIP and to view current workshop offerings.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)

The NCFDD is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community for graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members. It provides on-demand access to mentoring, tools, and support you need to be successful. Rutgers University-New Brunswick holds an active Institutional Membership, and all graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members can enjoy their full Individual Member benefits including:
