The mission of the Office of Graduate Student Life (OGSL) is to strengthen the graduate and professional student experience at Rutgers–New Brunswick by fostering community and belonging, expanding opportunities for connection and leadership, and helping students access the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
We advance this mission by:
Building community and belonging
Creating opportunities for graduate and professional students to connect across schools, disciplines, identities, and experiences.
Strengthening graduate student leadership and engagement
Supporting graduate student organizations, peer leadership, and opportunities for students to contribute to and shape the graduate student experience.
Connecting students to resources and opportunities
Helping students navigate university resources while highlighting programs, services, and opportunities relevant to graduate and professional students.
Creating spaces and experiences for graduate students
Providing graduate student-centered spaces, programs, and initiatives that support connection, engagement, and a sense of belonging.
Elevating the graduate student experience
Partnering with schools, departments, and university leaders to recognize graduate students' contributions and strengthen the institutional experience of graduate and professional students.
We Work Across Rutgers
Graduate student life happens across schools, departments, programs, and communities. OGSL collaborates with academic schools, student organizations, university offices, and campus partners to strengthen the graduate student experience and connect students with the support and opportunities available to them.
Our role is not to replace the support provided by your school or specialized university offices. We help connect the pieces so that graduate and professional students can find their way through Rutgers and find opportunities to engage beyond their academic programs.
